The Child and Psychiatric Inpatient Services Unit provides an nineteen-bed acute psychiatric unit for children and adolescents focusing on crisis intervention, assessment and acute stabilization. Stays are usually short.

Upon admission by the hospital, family appointments will be arranged. Families are expected to attend scheduled meetings and family night to assist in their child's assessment.

Following a brief hospitalization, patients are discharged with recommendations for follow-up care, based on individual needs, to community agencies, the family physician, a psychiatrist, or a specialized program.
